Online shoppers should note that Flipkart charges shipping for products under a certain price range. “Delivery charges vary with each seller…. for products listed as Flipkart Plus, a delivery charge of Rs 40 per item may be applied if the order value is less than Rs 500. Flipkart on its website said it does not use to charge cash on delivery orders. From now on, even if you order a product of Rs 150 or Rs 15,000 under the COD policy, you will have to pay Rs 5 per order in addition to delivery charges if any.
Currently, Flipkart charges shipping fees for products below a certain price category. Any product listed as Flipkart Plus requires a delivery charge of Rs 40 if the order value is less than Rs 500. However, there will be no delivery charge for orders above Rs 500.

However, Flipkart has now stated regardless of the delivery fee or no delivery fee, it will charge Rs 5 handling fee for all cash on delivery orders. “Due to processing fees, a nominal amount of Rs 5 will be charged for orders placed using this option (COD). Avoid these fees by paying online now,” reads the description under the cash on delivery option on Flipkart.
Previously, Flipkart introduced a secure packaging fee of Rs 29 for smartphone orders. The move came as the online retailer saw its net loss rise by 51% to Rs 4,362 crore in the 2022 financial year.
