5 live cartridges found in air cargo, probe activated | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Five live rounds were detected while screening cargo at Amausi Airport recently.
The recovery of the actual cartridges angered the security personnel and the matter was referred to the local police who registered a case in this regard and opened the investigation.
Police say deputy director of airport security Sudhir Bhor was shown an image of cartridges by the security officer Savanna Yadav who was checking cargo at the airport on August 21. Airport post office staff Ram Karan and Vice President Singh opened the package in the presence of security officials and Indigo Airlines staff member Sanjeev.
“Five active cartridges were found in the package which bore the sender’s address as Umar GraphicsGwaltoli, Kanpur and the name of the receiver as Aziz Ahmad Khan, New Ayasha Nagar, Mulla Colony, Pune,” the deputy security officer said in an FIR. The actual cartridges were then handed over to the police who registered a case under sections 26 and 28 of the Arms Act 1959 against the sender.
“Two mobile phone numbers were written on the package in which the live cartridges were found. The police are now looking for the people to whom these numbers belong, ”said Rajesh SrivastavaADCP, central area.
