FedEx expands shipping capacity in Australasia

Logistics company FedEx adds more Australian and New Zealand services to boost efficiency








FedEx’s new route will go between Melbourne, Auckland and Christchurch

Express carrier FedEx has announced the launch of a new trans-Tasman service to continue to expand its international and Australian locations and services.

FedEx is launching a new service that will link Christchurch, Auckland and Melbourne in a bid to improve transit times and give businesses more time to prepare for shipments.

The new service will be operated with Airwork to provide greater connectivity for FedEx customers, as well as faster transit times and additional capacity to send shipments between Australia and New Zealand.

FedEx says the new service will operate five times a week between Christchurch, Auckland and Melbourne and will add to the existing five flights between Sydney and Auckland each week.

The new route will allow better access to transportation, e-commerce, healthcare, automotive, agriculture and other essential spare parts shipments, with air cargo tonnage expected to increase by 7.7 % in 2022.

“We are delighted to launch this new route as part of our continued efforts to provide better and stronger connections for customers, especially in a corridor of such importance to two-way trade and Australian and New Zealand businesses” , said Peter Langley, vice president of FedEx Express Australasia. said.

“Australian exports to New Zealand have grown by over US$8 billion in 2021. With this additional service, we will have ten weekly flights improving connections for Australian and Kiwi businesses, including small businesses. and medium size and who are looking to develop their commercial activity.

According to FedEx, the main benefits of this new service include more time for Melbourne customers to prepare shipments, improved transit times and better acceptance of dangerous goods capacities.
