PISR strengthens its senior management with the appointment of a new coo

Palau International Ship Registry (PISR), the world’s first digital registry, has announced the appointment of Captain Georgios Tsouris as Director of Operations.
In this newly created role, Captain Tsouris joins as the company’s senior executive. Master petty officer and senior executive of the highest caliber, he will operate from PISR’s headquarters in Greece. He will report to and work closely with the CEO, Mr. Panos Kirnidis, to implement the Palau Flag Administration’s strategic vision and values. Captain Tsouris will be responsible for all day-to-day operations of the Palau International Maritime Registry and will continue to improve the scope and reach of the registry’s growth.

Captain Tsouris is a highly respected and well-known member of the international maritime community. With a career spanning nearly three decades and proven leadership in a variety of high-profile maritime positions, he is well-positioned to lead PISR.
Captain Tsouris grew up in Chios, Greece, where he was born, and from where he continued in the maritime tradition associated with the culture and history of the island in the Mercantile Maritime. He graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy in Oinoussae (Chios) in 1983. This was followed by 13 years of service at sea as a Master Mariner. He obtained his Master Class A’ Cert in 1996, sailed as a Master Mariner and joined as a Harbor Master in the Operations Department of MM. J. Xylas Group in 1997. He was also Director of Operations and Deputy DPA-CSO for a number of expeditions. businesses.
Captain Tsouris is a clinical professor of industry at the University of Piraeus in Greece, a lecturer at the MSC in shipping management and a member of the Merchant Navy Disciplinary Committee. He has successfully written and published several articles and e-books, including: “How to be a Dry Bulk Operator” and “Principles and Practices of Container Trading”. He is currently finishing the book “Ships Security Officer” under the auspices of the Evgenides Foundation.
He is the former President of the Chios Marine Club, the former General Secretary B’ of the Panhellenic Masters and Mates Union (PEPEN) and the former member of the BoD of Seafarers Retirement Fund (NAT). He coordinated the European programs Erasmus Plus “Sail Ahead”, “Stress Prevention Activities”, “Blue Schools” and “Seafarers Mental Health”, organized under the aegis of PEPEN and IDEC.
