Embraer secures first E190F/E195F conversion deal

Nordic Aviation Capital is about to become the launch lessor of the Embraer E-Jet Passenger to Freight (P2F) conversion: it has concluded an agreement for 10 conversion slots for E190F/E195F, with deliveries expected in 2024. aircraft to be converted will be provided by Nordic Aviation Capital’s existing fleet.
The freighter conversion will be carried out at Embraer’s facilities in Brazil and includes the main deck forward cargo door; cargo handling system; floor reinforcement; Rigid Loading Barrier (RCB) – 9G Barrier with access door and loading smoke detection system, including class “E” fire extinguishers in the upper load compartment.
Other works specific to the P2F conversion are modifications to the air management system (cooling, pressurization, etc.), interior removal and provisions for the transport of hazardous materials. The E190F can support a payload of 23,600 lbs (10,700 kg) while the E195F a payload of 27,100 lbs (12,300 kg).
Last April, during the FIDAE air show in Santiago (Chile), in an exclusive interview with Aviacionline, Johann Bordais, President & CEO of Embraer Services & Support, declared that “we felt it was the right time to going to launch the E1 E190/E195 as a freighter,” and that there is potential for Embraer to take around 20% of the freighter market with conversions.

As for the signing of this agreement, he pointed out that “there is an unprecedented demand for air freight, especially for same-day deliveries and decentralized operations; the perfect mission for E-Jet sized freighters. Embraer’s P2F solution provides NAC with ideal revenue-generating expansion opportunities for our older E-Jet models, now destined to replace the most polluting narrow-body freighters approaching retirement. »
