The Honda CR-V barely beats the Chevy Equinox

Someone might have to tell the Honda CR-V to watch its back. The Chevy Equinox is gaining ground and has almost passed it. The 2022 Chevy Equinox may have a few advantages over the 2022 Honda CR-V to consider.
2022 Honda CR-V vs. 2022 Chevy Equinox
The official numbers are in and the 2022 Honda CR-V has barely edged out the 2022 Chevy Equinox. So far in 2022, the Chevy Equinox has sold 56,036 units and the Honda CR-V has moved 58,759 models.
These SUVs are so close in terms of sales that the Equinox could catch up to the CR-V and even outclass it. But they might not catch up to the Toyota RAV4, which currently tops the SUV list with 101,192 sales.
According to Car and Driver, sales of the Equinox were down about 11% from a year ago, but the CR-V was down 38%. The CR-V could run out of steam before the new model arrives in 2023.
Additionally, the Honda CR-V starts at around $26,400, while the Chevy Equinox starts at around $25,800, making it price competitive.
Does the CR-V or Equinox have better performance?

The 2022 Chevy Equinox comes with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 170 hp and 203 lb-ft of torque. A more powerful 2.0-liter inline-four engine with 237 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque might be on the way.
With the 2022 Honda CR-V, you get a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine developing 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid CR-V has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors to develop 212 hp.
The Equinox can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 8.7 seconds and tow up to 3,500 lbs. The CR-V can hit 60 mph in about 8.2 seconds and tow up to 1,500 lbs. Both options are available with all-wheel drive.
While the Equinox may have a smoother ride and quieter interior, the CR-V gets sportier handling and stronger brakes. Both options would benefit from faster acceleration.
Does the Equinox or CR-V have better features?
The 2022 Honda CR-V features an interior with a simple layout and premium materials. There’s a heavy use of plastics, but it feels roomy and durable. The 2022 Chevy Equinox offers more style, comfort and luxury.
A 7.0-inch information display is standard with the Equinox, but you can upgrade to an 8.0-inch unit. The base model CR-V comes with a 5.0-inch color radio display, but higher trim levels get a 7.0-inch display. Both SUVs have Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard.
You can access up to 29.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat of the Equinox, with up to 63.9 cubes total. There’s 39.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the CR-V’s rear seats with up to 75.8 cubes total.
Both SUVs come standard with forward collision warning, automated emergency braking, lane keeping assist and lane departure warning. The Honda CR-V also comes standard with adaptive cruise control.
The Honda CR-V and Chevy Equinox are neck and neck, but the Equinox could be more comfortable and can tow more. The CR-V, however, has more space and a more engaging ride.
