Quantum computing application has real success at Pier 300 in the Port of Los Angeles
JACKSON, Wyo., January 5, 2022 / PRNewswire / – The Port Los Angeles is known as the busiest port in the United States, and this was further highlighted in October 2021 when the port recorded the busiest month in its 114-year history, with cargo volume exceeding 903,000 TEUs. At a time when we face the challenges of the global supply chain, it is more essential than ever that the port operates at its maximum capacity with the highest level of efficiency possible. With the pandemic-induced surge in purchasing, ports across the country are struggling to keep up with expedited operations. The technology to optimize the capacity of port infrastructure is of the utmost importance. This is where the SHARPEN (Hyper Optimization Nodal Efficiency) Quantum Powered AI Engine kicks in, increasing cargo capacity and movement speed.
In collaboration with Fenix ââMarine Services and SavantX, HONE was initially deployed in July 2020. The HONE optimization engine has been proven successful in one of the largest marine terminals in the United States, the Pier 300 container terminal project at the Port of Los Angeles, where it doubled the productivity of cargo handling equipment and produced more predictable cargo flows. HONE and its deployment strategy have optimized the terminal as well as the planning, appointments and handling of containers in the terminal for the trucking companies and their customers.
Powered by industry-leading quantum computing technology D-Wave, HONE technology enables unprecedented supply chain intelligence. In addition, through artificial intelligence and machine learning, the HONE engine redirects and optimizes operations, thereby accelerating the speed of the supply chain.
âTackling large-scale optimization issues has always been a priority issue in the supply chain space – and will continue to be,â said Jen houston, Marketing Director, D-Wave. âThat’s why we’re excited to see more and more forward-thinking organizations begin to leverage the power of quantum computing to effectively identify and resolve complex supply chain and logistics issues. We are proud to be the quantum vendor behind SavantX’s work as they harness quantum computing to optimize operations, increase productivity, and improve risk management. “
SavantX is one of the first organizations in the world to leverage the enormous power of quantum computing to solve business applications with significant cost savings and efficiency gains. The company’s lineage includes open source intelligence gathering tools for the US government and patented advanced analytical technologies that drive SavantX offerings. Originally established in 2015, SavantX’s mission has evolved into a quantum analysis company.
