Santa reveals his naughty and kind list to the FAA

Dear Administrator Dickson,

Many thanks to the Federal Aviation Administration for re-granting Special Flight Authorization for my unique, direct air cargo delivery operation to bring vacation joy to children of all ages across the United States on December 24. The special launch license for my StarSleigh- 1 / Rudolph Rocket to take a short ride to the International Space Station is also appreciated.

My main goal in writing is to join my voice with that of many others for the continuous improvement of all facets of air transport safety. It is important to recognize who is doing the right thing and to call out bad behaviors and point them in the bright way to understand and follow FAA safety rules. So here are my special FAA Safety Naughty and Nice lists.

On my Nice list are air traffic controllers and technicians, pilots and flight attendants, gate agents, ground crews, airport personnel, security personnel, airlines, commercial space operators and government agencies that manage, operate and oversee the security of the system. The system is secure and resilient because of their hard work. I have the greatest gratitude and respect for all who do their job to ensure the safety of air travel. Air travelers who properly wear face masks are also on my Nice List. I will make sure that all of their vacation wishes are granted.

For people whose bad behavior threatens the safety of air travel, remember: I’m watching! At the top of my rogue list are the unruly passengers who pose a serious security threat. People who deliberately point lasers at planes are on the list because they could incapacitate pilots, some of whom fly planes with hundreds of passengers. In addition, pilots or aircraft owners who operate illegal charter operations pose a serious safety hazard because they do not have the proper training or do not maintain their aircraft to the highest levels of safety required. to transport the public.

Most of the people involved in air travel are good people who care about their own safety and the safety of others. Please continue to follow the crew’s instructions, be polite, and enjoy the flight. For those on my naughty list, I believe it is our duty to help them change their unsafe behavior through safety programs, educational awareness, and enforcement action where appropriate.

I encourage you to share my bad guys and good guys lists widely and let it be known that Santa Claus and the FAA are steadfast partners when it comes to air travel safety!

Have a safe and happy holiday season!
