Sheet Piling UK improves handling of imports from UAE
Sheet Piling UK Limited has entered into a long term agreement with PD Ports at its Immingham site to store and handle its steel sheet piles.
PD Ports will store and process up to 16,000 tonnes of imported sheet piles. It will also provide clutch sealing, cutting and welding. “Sheet Piling UK’s imports and supply chain have not been affected by both Covid-19 and Brexit, due to its unique position as an exclusive strategic partner of Emirates Steel in the UK. United and Ireland, ”says the company in a note seen by Kallanish.
The sheet piles arrive directly at Immingham from Abu Dhabi, and will be stored and processed on site before being distributed. Previously, they were imported, transported by road, processed and then redistributed. “The new arrangement avoids double handling of goods and provides a truly consolidated and sustainable solution, in line with the sustainability practices of PD Ports and Sheet Piling UK,” notes Sheet Piling UK.
In 2017, Emirates Steel declared its intention to boost the supply of sheet piling in Europe (see Kallanish passim).
