Interlibrary loans are back at KFL

KENNEBUNK – Interlibrary loan is back at Kennebunk Free Library. From Monday July 13, you can start requesting items from other libraries through the Minerva Catalog. MaineCat’s application, which includes the Portland Public Library and the University of Maine system, will be available around July 20. You can access the catalog through the Kennebunk Free Library website (kennebunklibrary.org) or to https://minerva.maine.edu/
There are a few things to keep in mind:
• Most of the items in the Minerva catalog will be available to you, but there are a few libraries that are not yet open on the curb. Their items cannot be requested.
• KFL will quarantine articles from other libraries for 72 hours before they are placed in reserve so that your articles will be listed as “in transit” a little longer than usual.
• There are a large number of queues in the system since March. It may take some time for libraries in Maine to work together to clear this backlog. KFL appreciates your patience in the first week or two as things pick up. If you have any concerns about the length of your wait, let the KFL staff know and they will be happy to review it for you.
• Items owned by KFL will continue to be checked out for four weeks, but items you borrow from other libraries will be checked out for three weeks, so items checked out at the same time may have different due dates. If you have any questions about due dates, you can log into your account to view borrowed items or you can call KFL staff and they will check for you.
